The Play Menu for CPN
I have added a "Play" pull-down menu to
CPN. The items on this menu are supposed to produce sound through the
Midi equipment of your computer, if you have any. Midi's are not an
exact science, AFAIK. Let us know if these functions don't work for
you, and we'll try to improve the situation.
The items on this menu are:
- Play -- This should cause the phrase shown to be
played through your Midi.
- Repeat All -- This should cause the phrase shown to be
played repeatedly, ad infinitum, through your Midi. To stop this,
click on the 'Stop Play' choice (below).
- Play Last Measure -- This will play only the last measure of
the phrase. If you are adding notes, you can use this to check
what you add, measure by measure. It is a little harder to edit
notes in the middle of a phrase, so check it before you add
it.
- Repeat Measure -- This will play only the last measure of
the phrase, repeatedly, ad infinitum. If you are adding notes, and
using this program as an accompaniment for practice, you can use
this to practice what you add, measure by measure. To stop this,
click on the 'Stop Play' choice (below).
- Stop Play -- Click on this to interrupt repeated
playing started with one of the other menu choices (above). The
music will only stop at the end of the phrase, it will not stop
immediately when this choice is selected.
- Ear Train -- This choice will open a new screen that
you can use to drill yourself on some ear-training
exercises.
