Performing the World 2008

The Performing the World conference was held in early October in New York city, hosted by the All Starts Project. It brought together performance-based community arts groups from all over the world, including from the North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. The presentations ranged from project outlines and documentation to academic discussions about the psychological aspects of performance as transformational to human capacity. There were plenty of performances and youth involvement too. The Network Jamming project was represented by Andrew Brown. Jam2jam was one of only a few technology-based projects at the conference, but it was very exciting to see the breadth and history of creativity-based community projects that Network Jamming has become a part of.
