jam2jam research
A partnership between the Endeavour Foundation and ACID. Accessible Interactions involved the research and development of digital technology solutions to address key needs identified by the Endeavour Foundation: to support and enrich the lives of its clients with an intellectual disability, and their carers. The project produced new knowledge of the possibilities of social technologies to encourage engagement and participatory relationships for Endeavour clients, carers, families and the Endeavour organisation across Queensland.
Work with Jam2jam involves the development of accessible interfaces, training of staff and the development of experience design for clients to engage meaningfully with media performance. The project is led by the innovative sociologist Assoc Prof Barbara Adkins with research assistance provided by John Ong MA Research student.

jam2jam research began in 2002 funded by a Verizon wireless grant to design software for a children’s music festival in Delaware Ohio, USA. Since then the project has grown through an Australasian Coooperative Research Centre for Interaction Design (ACID) to become an international network of researchers working in a wide variety of communities to examine meaningful engagement.
